What is a Bed and Breakfast Association?

A bed and breakfast association is a voluntary cooperative of bed and breakfast Inns. The primary activities of a bed and breakfast association are group marketing, mutual support, and professional development. Bed and breakfast associations also advocate with a strong voice for the common purposes of the bed and breakfast tourism sector.

For the guests of bed and breakfasts that belong to an association, the most important benefit is accreditation. In order to belong to a bed and breakfast association, each bed and breakfast must meet various standards. These standards often include cleanliness, health, safety and hosting skills. Bed and breakfast inns which join an association must be inspected regularly and often will display the crest of their membership in an association. Some bed and breakfast inns will belong to multiple bed and breakfast associations at the local, county, state, national and/or international level. Bed and breakfasts not showing membership in at least one bed and breakfast association are unlikely to be of a high quality.

This web site was created for two purposes; First to facilitate communication amongst the various bed and breakfast associations in North America. Second, to allow a portal for guests to find quality bed and breakfast inns through accessing bed and breakfast association web sites.
